Home News & Events Smallbrook celebrate Chinese New Year
On Tuesday 1st February Smallbrook school students and staff have been celebrating the Chinese New Year. Key stage two children have been learning about the origins of Chinese New Year and why people celebrate it. The children have also been learning about the Chinese traditions and customs associated with the new year celebrations. They have read the story of the Twelve Animals and identified the animal associated with their birth date. This year is the year of the Tiger.
Students had fun making dragon puppets, lanterns and lucky red envelopes. Key stage two children wrote special messages wishing people good health, good fortune and happiness. Staff and children also had fun dressing up in a lion costume. Looking at the photos, can you guess who is in the lion costume?
A special thank you to Sarah for making delicious Chinese food for the students and staff.
We wish you all, good health and happiness.
Happy Chinese New Year everyone! Sun lein fi lok (Happy New Year in Chinese).
